Learn to sew your own Everyday cross-body bag from start to finish in this 4-day class series. You’ll learn techniques on how to add a sturdy base to any tote bag you may make in the future.
Sew a stylish cross body bag that you'll want to wear every day. You will learn how to install handbag hardware such as D-rings swivel hooks, and adjustable straps. This bag is fully lined with a zippered pocket, an inside patch pocket and snap closure.
This is a 4-day class series.
Each session will be 2 1/2 hours.
Students are required to wear closed-toe shoes to this class
Materials required for this class:
Based on 45" wide fabric:
Main fabric: ½ yard of medium/heavy fabric such as denim, or duck canvas (10-12 oz weight), or mid-weight quilting cottons interface with fusible fleece.
Lining Fabric: ¼ yard medium-weight fabric such as twill, lightweight, denim, or quilting cotton (fused with interfacing)
Fabric for pocket lining: lightweight (18" x 22") quilting cotton
One 7" closed-end metal zipper
One 18 mm magnetic snap
Two 1" metal D-rings
Two 1" metal swivel hooks
One 1" metal slide adjuster
1½ yards of 1"-wide lightweight cotton webbing for straps
Thread colors to match main fabric, lining fabric, and webbing
Skills Required: Participants must be able to wind a bobbin, thread a sewing machine, sew straight seams, cut fabric with precision and have some experience installing zippers.
Age requirements: Adult
Recommended Prerequisite: Basic Sewing Level 1 and 2.

Located in the Orange Blossom Center, the South Trail Branch is an open, bright branch with lots of sunshine. The branch is located in a commercial center, adjacent to numerous multi-family housing units and is a popular spot for children and families.
The history of South Trail branch spans almost four decades. It began as the Ft. Gatlin branch at 105 Gatlin Avenue in 1965. The branch moved to the corner of Holden Avenue and South Orange Blossom Trail in 1981. The move across the street to the current site in the Orange Blossom Center took place in 1996.
