Join the Southwest Book Club to discuss this month's selection Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover. The author describes her life's journey from her Mormon fringe upbringing to worldly adult. Her parents were survivalists and kept the family in isolation. Despite no formal education till she was age 17, Westover went on to attend Harvard and study at Cambridge University. The pursuit of knowledge cost her dearly--her parents rejected her--but in the end, she gained her freedom.
Anyone age 18 or older is welcome to attend. The book club meets monthly at the Southwest Branch Library. No registration needed. For more information, please call 407.835.7323 or email southwest@ocls.info
The Southwest Branch opened on March 21, 1989 in a beautiful Mediterranean style building designed by Schweizer and Associates Architecture Firm, who also designed the Orlando Public Library. Serving the Dr. Phillips and Metrowest communities, Southwest is near International Drive and the attractions. Southwest is a popular place for local adults, children, students and tourists.
