Let's go green and make your own shopping bags. These bags are quick and easy to make and fat quarter friendly. Students must bring their own fabric. See description for details.
Create a fun and festive shopping bags or totes from start to finish using professional patterns and sewing machines in this 3-day series.
We provide the pattern and will be using Kwik Sew K3612 for the bags.
This is a 3-day class.

Students are required to bring materials:
Designed for woven fabrics.
Suggested Fabrics: Cotton, cotton types, calico, nylon, poplin, decorator fabrics, twill, and denim.
VIEW A
Bag is lined, has side panels, four panels on front and back, and wide handles. Panels and handles are color blocked. Fabric requirement is given using four different colors.
MATERIAL REQUIRED:
FABRIC 20" (51 CM) WIDE MINIMUM WIDTH -
Four 1/2 yd (0.50 m) pieces
LINING 45" (115 CM) WIDE - 7/8 yd (0.80 m)
FLEECE 45" (115 CM) WIDE - 5/8 yd (0.60 m)
NOTIONS: Thread, 4 1/2" x 15 3/4" (11.5 cm x 40 cm) piece of stabilizer for bottom, such as plastic craft canvas, cardboard, or rigid plastic.
VIEW B
Bag is double and made from eight squares, has elastic in casings on two sides, and fabric covered cording handles in casings on opposite sides.
MATERIAL REQUIRED:
Eight pieces of fabric 18" x 18" (46 cm x 46 cm) each a different color or cut two pieces of four different fabrics.
One piece of fabric for handle 4" x 32" (10 cm x 82 cm)
NOTIONS: Thread, 5/8 yd (0.60 m) of 1" (2.5 cm) wide elastic, 1 7 /8 yd (1. 75 m) of cording for handles.
VIEW C
Shopping bag has band at top edge, double bottom, and handles are stitched to outside of bag.
MATERIAL REQUIRED:
FABRIC COLOR I -16" (40 cm) Wide minimum width - 3/8 yd (0.35 m)
FABRIC COLOR II - 26" (65 cm) Wide minimum width - 3/8 yd (0.35 m)
FABRIC COLOR Ill - 40" (102 cm) Wide minimum width -1 yd (0.95 m)
NOTIONS: Thread, 7" x 12" (17 cm x 30 cm) piece of stabilizer for bottom, such as plastic craft canvas, cardboard, or rigid plastic.

The Orlando Public Library is the headquarters and resource center for the Orange County Library System. The Library has been located at this site since its beginnings as the Albertson Public Library in 1923. Public Reference Departments in the Orlando Public Library include Children's, Library Central, and Learning Central. The Children's Library offers spacious areas, special programs, computers and story rooms for our youngest readers and readers to be. The Technology and Education Center is located on the second floor and includes the Dorothy Lumley Melrose Center for Technology, Innovation and Creativity. The Friends of the Library Third Floor Bookstore is open daily and recycles withdrawn and donated books to the community.
